Kage and Phreaque were working together at a video rental store when Kage — a bass player just out of a previous band — mentioned he needed a drummer. Phreaque spoke up and said he was one. They made plans to jam the following weekend, and Kage was absolutely blown away by Phreaque's technical drumming: the two of them started writing what would become Winter Agony songs on day one.
