2005 to now

Only dates and events the band has actually published. Where the source records no date, the event is shown without one rather than given an invented year.

  1. The band begins

Kage and Phreaque meet working at a video rental store. Kage mentions he needs a drummer; Phreaque says he is one. They jam the following weekend and start writing on day one.

  2. Rayne joins — and “My Mind” is written

Kage and Rayne connect in a Yahoo chat room. Rayne drives up to meet them, and the three write “My Mind” that same day. Winter Agony is now three.

  3. The first songs are recorded

The band tracks “My Mind”, “Chained”, “Agony”, “Never Wake”, “Burning Bridges”, “Mati Di Nol” and “Stranded”, auditioning singers without ever settling on one.

  4. “Nightmare” is written

The writing date given for “Nightmare” on the band's own lyric page.

  5. The silence

Life takes over. Careers, a relocation, a business and family responsibilities put the project on hold. Twenty years pass.

  6. The original three return

Kage, Phreaque and Rayne are back together, with the tools and the time to make the music happen on their own terms.

  7. Restoring the original material

The material written in 2005 and 2006 is taken back into the studio to be remastered and completed with modern production tools.

  8. Ruby joins as vocalist

Ruby — an AI vocalist crafted around the voice the band envisioned — becomes the vocal identity of Winter Agony.

  9. “Reality Without A Mask” is released

The debut album: seventeen tracks, all but one written in the 2005–2006 era.

  10. Physical copies ship

The physical edition of “Reality Without A Mask” goes on sale through the official shop.

  11. Lyric pages and new promotional photography

The band publishes lyric pages for the album and an updated set of promotional photographs.

  12. The official Discord goes live

Winter Agony opens an official Discord server for the community.
